"Honey, I don't have time for allergies!" I am not sure about your location, but here in the south the last couple of months have been tough for those who battle allergies! In fact, one month ago I thought I was going to need an antibiotic. I had taken allergy medicine for a couple of weeks, but I did not feel like it was helping me. Several of my clients were battling the same allergies. Pollen was everywhere!

I try to eat organic, but my funds are limited! Can you relate? If I had it my way I would shop at Whole Foods every week and I would not think twice about what I spend because I can trust what I am putting into my body. That would be great, but for many of us it just does not work that way. First of all, the closest Whole Foods is 45 minutes from me and secondly it is expensive.

I traveled from Charlotte this past weekend to a fitness workshop in Charleston with a friend of mine from high school and our lovely Glamour Owl Girl. I was excited to go, but I ran out of time in my week to prepare. In fact, I barely had time to pack my luggage, much less my snacks and meals. I was thirty minutes late meeting Carrie because I ran out of the studio and our meeting spot was a bit further than I expected. When I met her I laughed hysterically at the amount of bags she brought with her....plus her fan (who does that!?) . She had been to Whole Foods and brought a cooler full of healthy snacks. I have a confession about my meal planning...I had nothing. I was feeling a little hungry, but we were on a time crunch so I ate one of her vegan bars. Once we arrived in Charleston we had no time to eat until 8:30p. At that point she was ready to eat a salad she prepared and I stopped at the grocery store for a salad from their deli....gross, and who knows if the lettuce was washed.

I am more excited than ever to plan my spring garden! In the past I have successfully maintained one raised bed and two small raised herb gardens. I moved away from "my little garden" at the house I sold in the Fall, and I am accepting the challenge to add a few more beds! I sat in the sunshine today planning my garden.

Whoot whoot! I love green smoothies! I know, I know...it's the trend! Well, sometimes I like to be trendy! Especially when I feel immediate energy! I am not very creative with different smoothie recipes. I would if I had more time, and sometimes I will make fruit smoothies for my children just to keep their interest. For just over one year I drink a green smoothie almost every day. I am often asked for my recipe, so here you go! Please keep in mind I have a Vitamix, and your blender may offer a different consistency.

I hate grocery shopping. There, I said it. It requires me to think A LOT. I have to plan, make a list, stay within budget and spend my valuable time trying to figure out what is healthy for me to bring home. All of this knowing I might get grief for bringing home "healthy stuff". This is why I have focused my planning on fabulous recipes that are guaranteed to make my family happy. I am determined to make them a excited as I am about eating healthy foods. I cannot keep strawberry water these days, because every time I fill it up Hoss drinks it all. My kids LOVE green smoothies and salads. I am working hard on other areas where they are not so excited. It is important to me that they learn healthy habits now. Although they think I am over the top I will not go down without doing everything I can to teach them how to take care of their bodies. So...although I do not like grocery shopping I make the best of it!

Thank you for getting excited about being healthy with me! It is a journey...it does not happen overnight. That's why diets don't work. Sure, you may lose weight, but what happens when you stop the diet? Many times folks gain the weight right back. So let me be honest. I like cookies. I like chocolate. By no means do I eat everything I am supposed to eat. Certain times of the month I feel like I cannot get enough chocolate! Can you relate? If I am not careful I find myself doing well all day, but when I settle down in the evenings I get the munchies. This is why I had to give my kitchen pantry a makeover!

I simply cannot wait to share with you how much I love squash! I am a southern girl, so I grew up eating fried squash. In fact, I used to think that was the only way to cook squash. Over the past ten years I have chopped it and added it to other meals seeking healthier versions, but I never considered making squash my main ingredient....until now!

Here is the first harvest from my Fall garden! I couldn't wait to chop these radishes and put them in my salad! CHOP CHOP CHOP, toss them in, and OH MY! THEY ARE HOT! Are these supposed to taste like onions? I was unsure, so I decided to text Linda, my garden "go-to" girl for gardening advice. Before I called her I looked online and read that radishes can be hot if they grow under stress.
