Gardens

One word: PASSION.

I often get asked, “How do you have time to garden?” The truth is, I look forward to it and you can, too!

After choosing your method of gardening it is important to design your garden. If you find single row gardening to be a challenge with your busy lifestyle, I encourage you to try raised bed gardening! I personally love the Square Foot Method of gardening so much I decided to become an SFG Certified Instructor!

Here is a picture of my first raised bed garden. This was before I learned the SFG Method. My garden looks good, but I had a lot of wasted space.

Boxed-Garden-Finished

The Square Foot Method requires smaller boxes and less soil. Mel Bartholomew (Founder of Square Foot Gardening) created the perfect mixture of 1/3 Peat Moss, 1/3 Vermiculite and 1/3 Blended Compost. All of these ingredients are natural, not manufactured. They all drain well and are full of nutrients and minerals. When I converted my raised bed to a square foot garden, I removed the existing soil, laid down a gardening liner, and replaced with Mel’s Mix.

I still consider myself a rookie at gardening, but I love it! I enjoy having my garden next to my house! I am a busy mom, and I need convenience. Gardening has become an adventure for my entire family, and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!
