Coffee scrubs are very popular these days, especially with the fabulous brand, Frank Body, so I figured I would try to make my own. I researched a few different recipes and decided I would go with the Citrus Coffee Scrub using my Young Living Essential Oils.

I paid a visit to Starbucks in hopes to recycle some of their used grounds. They have a fabulous program for gardeners called Grounds For Your Garden, and it was as simple as ordering my coffee and requesting a bag.

Ingredients:

1 cup coffee grounds

1 cup organic coconut oil

1/2 cup organic coconut sugar or brown sugar

3 tbsp sea salt

7 drops Orange Young Living Essential Oil

7 drops Lemon Young Living Essential Oil

Combine the coffee grounds, sugar and salt. Add your oils, mix together and set aside. Melt the coconut oil slowly on low. Once the chunks are gone you can pour the oil into the mix. The oil will sit on top of the mixture until you stir.

Pour into jars. The coffee scrub is good for two weeks. It is very messy, but totally worth it! It will leave your skin feeling fabulous!

NOTE: You can choose used coffee grounds or fresh grounds that have not yet been brewed. While there are arguments regarding the topical use of caffeine, it is said that caffeine is good for improving circulation in the hopes of keeping the dreaded cellulite away. I have not studied it enough to argue one way or the other, but I do find it interesting!
