My Beautiful Studio

Imagine yourselves at my family gathering with covered dishes and a lot of love. It’s mostly meats that I would never eat, and I am usually picked on for bringing the kale salad. There is normally some sort of prank, and there is always the mention of my beautiful studio.

My Cousins: “Jill, how is your beautiful studio?”

Me: “It’s so beautiful!”

This question has become a joke in my family over the past five years because apparently, all I ever talk about is my beautiful studio! In fact, if you look at my Instagram feed, @jill_hinson, there are often comments like, “How is your beautiful studio?” or “I love your beautiful studio” or “I want to come to your beautiful studio!” Yep, you guessed it. It’s always my family (see below, I am not joking and they think they are funny!).

I felt so lucky. I loved our space, my clients loved our space, the Core Studio teachers loved our space. A studio has to be more than pretty walls, though. It has to be functional, and to my disappointment, circumstances outside of my control forced me to seek new space. As you can imagine, I have lost a ton of sleep trying to find a way to make those beautiful brick walls work. How would I find another space that my clients would love to come back to like they once loved the brick walls? After being in denial for months, I knew in my heart it was time for me to find another building…it just wouldn’t be as beautiful.

Walking direction on asphalt

As a million thoughts ran through my head, I would try to work through multiple scenarios while lying awake at night worried about whether or not my clients would be able to come with me. I finally decided I cannot do this anymore. I had prayed about it a lot, and if I am being completely honest, I recently spent time by myself on my knees in every room of my beautiful studio asking God for His blessing over us. It was finally time for me to give it all to God, which was not easy for me to do. If this meant it was time to leave, then I would have faith that it is part of a bigger plan I was having trouble understanding.

These are my reasons why:

1. BEAUTIFUL SOULS: My clients

Core Studio Pilates and Yoga is more than a good workout. It is Mind, Body, and Spirit. I do not take that lightly, nor does my team. When you have clients who you work with privately and in small groups every week, friendships are formed. You learn where their bodies need extra work, and you know in your heart, that your services are quite possibly offering them added years to their lives.

2. BEAUTIFUL CHARITY: Core Compassion Project

Core Compassion Project was founded inside of Core Studio Pilates and Yoga. This is a 100% volunteer non-profit with 501(c)3 status, that offers women and men battling breast cancer post-rehabilitative Pilates free of charge. Every single week now, our clients are preparing for Girls Night Out, our annual fundraiser where we bring our community together to raise funds for this amazing cause. While I’m at it, you can be the first to know we just launched our new website! Check us out www.corecompassionproject.org. We are now in 4 states and seeking sponsors. I’d like to throw that in because, let’s face it, too many of our friends and family face this ugly disease. Pilates offers our recipients a new excitement for their bodies, and often times, a new motivation for life.

3. BEAUTIFUL PILATES AND YOGA  Core Studio Instructors and Staff

Let’s talk about your Core Studio team! Amongst all of us we have more education in our field than most studio owners would dream of having on staff! We are a sisterhood. We love each other and we love to learn from each other.

With all of that said, I cannot wait to take my Core Studio Pilates and Yoga family to the AMAZING Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail, North Carolina! Here is a picture of our new home! I am waiting to share photos of our new space, because I want to surprise you….but guess what, it is still beautiful! Sometimes things work out just the way they are supposed to work out! To the Mulhall’s and Logano’s who helped make this happen for me, THANK YOU for allowing us to teach in such a special place. We are so excited! (And as a side note, I taught my first Pilates group class at Extreme Ice Center just over 6 years ago!)

In closing, I cannot wait until my next family gathering with gross meats and my kale salad.

My Cousins: “Jill, how is your beautiful studio?”

Me: “Let me tell you all about it. It’s more beautiful than ever.”

After all, my three most important reasons for loving Core Studio so much have nothing to do with brick walls and a pretty arch. Plus, NOW our story shows strength in standing together through the challenges. Our studio will continue to be what it has always been…beautiful souls, beautiful charity, and beautiful pilates and yoga.

P.S. Downtown Monroe, you will always have a piece of my heart!

Healthy Please XOXO,

Jill

Oh make me tear up why don’t you! What an excellent blog. You are so right Jill, it’s not brick and old windows that made your studio beautiful; it was talent, grit, heart, sweat, compassion, clients with dedication, charity and the desire to help, plus a team that followed a wonderful leader. You out grew Main Street in a wonderful kind of way! I want to say best of luck but you don’t need to hear that. You make your own luck. The harder you work, the more luck you have. 😉

And I am certain we all will still ask about that beautiful new studio. Also, we must never forget our veggies and essential oils; even if they think we are crazy!

congratulations Jill …I am sure this will also be another beautiful studio …your family expects no less and neither does our Heavenly Father . I can only imagine the hours spent in prayer over this decision because I know you would never make such a huge decision on your own .God opens some doors and He closes some doors . I know the love you have for your crew and for each and every client , your heart is such an open door . Having the courage to step out in faith once again knowing that God has brought you this far and will continue to do so as long as you keep your eyes focused on the real prize . I love you and I am so very proud and crazy over you … not so much that Kale salad but …forever I will remain one of your biggest fans. Looking forward to this new chapter in your life and the lives of all whom you come in contact with . Team awesome ..you along with your crew have worked hard to be where you are today. With thanksgiving…enjoy!
