September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and I am partnering with local runner, Tim “McBeast” McBride to raise money for the Isabella Santos Foundation, a wonderful foundation for children with cancer. As most of my readers know, my nephew Levi, has been kicking leukemia’s booty for one year. Check out his family blog, The Vetter’s Blog.
I first learned about McBeast when he ran 50+ miles to bring awareness and raise money for cancer. He lost both of his parents to cancer, so his life’s mission has been to run, run some more, and continue running as his mission to fight blood cancer. I’ve seen him run around the streets of Downtown Monroe. I was intrigued by his “fashion”, that beard definitely caught my attention! I sent him a private message on Facebook last year after his long run offering him a few free classes in support of recovery from a long run for an amazing cause. McBride will not miss a single day of running…this December will mark five years that he has not missed a single day. In our meeting last week he told me he would be running at 11pm that night because his day was busy. I am extremely dedicated to my workouts, but I am not sure I would commit to 11pm on a busy day… so I asked him why? He immediately responded, “Children fighting cancer never get a day off.” Chills.
AND…he might be one of the most humble people I have had the privilege of meeting. He doesn’t dye his beard purple when he runs to bring attention to himself. He wants you to ask why dying his purple beard is so important to him….or pink, or yellow, depending on the race he runs.
Last week, Mr. McBride and I met at my studio to discuss a class we can offer together as we work to raise money for his run for the Isabella Santos Race this Fall. We had a little fun on the equipment, but our mission is very serious. Please join us on September 30! I will teach a Master Pilates Mat class from 6:30p-7:30, then from 7:30p-8:30 we will offer refreshments with a questions and answer session about the Isabella Foundation and all about McBride’s journey and passion. We are asking for a minimum donation of $30 to attend this event, and we will gladly accept donations from those who cannot attend. I am not good at asking for money, but I will never apologize for requesting to help fight kid’s cancer. In order to reserve your spot donate here and email email@example.com:

“I am not a professional athlete or a rich guy, but I can run and ask people for money. If they tell me no, ok. It’s the one thing I can do. Even $5.00 adds up. What if the $1 you give is the $1 that leads to the cure?”
We hope you can join us in the fight against childhood cancer!
Healthy Please XOXO,
