First and most importantly, GOD BLESS PARIS. My heart aches.

What does “healthy” mean to you?

“It’s a great question, right? What DOES “healthy” mean to you? I can’t answer that. I simply want to challenge you to think about it.

For example, let’s get rid of tobacco, and instead let’s vape. I just read an article in The New York Times that stated 84 percent of current smokers thought e-cigarettes were safer in 2010. There is controversy of whether or not electronic cigarettes allow for formaldehyde contamination. Why would you even take that chance either way? Why Why Why? I don’t get it. I lost two grandparents to emphysema. No convincing me either is ever ok.

“I’d like to work out, but I don’t have the time. ” I hope you have time for medical appointments in a few years. Enough said.

Or, in order for a workout to be “good” these days, it has to be “intense” or “killer.” What if all of this intensity isn’t the best thing for us? What if it’s robbing you of the results you are really looking for?

“Vegetables? I hate vegetables!” Well, if  you aren’t even willing to try, you can’t expect to find something you like.  In general, Americans do not put enough veggies on their plates. Certain nutrients are found exclusively in plants. By eliminating veggies from your diet, you are doing yourself a disservice that may result in the development of chronic conditions and life threatening illnesses.

I can’t sleep! Um well, what time did you drink your last soda today? Or how about that Starbucks? Get to know your body! Don’t get me wrong, I do believe sleep disorders are a real thing. I have also seen first- hand people who have to take sleeping pills, but are downing caffeine at 6:00pm.

…and speaking of sodas…you wonder why you can’t lose weight?

My goal is to challenge you to think about your health. It is one commitment that only you can make happen for yourself.  The new year brings on new commitments and none of us are getting younger (although you can feel younger!). That’s just a fact. Take care of yourself. You deserve it!

Healthy Please XOXO,

Jill
